Komen ECTX Board of Directors
The Board of Directors functions to advise, assist and aid in our efforts to support breast cancer education and outreach programs serving Komen East Central Texas service area.
Jane is married to George Allen; she is a proud mother and grandmother. Retired in 2007 from Texas Farm Bureau as Manager of Education and Staff Development.
Currently have a part time endeavor as a step on tour guide to guests visiting Waco. When Jane can manage to find a moment for herself, she enjoys travel, reading and volunteerism.
“I became active in Komen as a freshly diagnosed Survivor. The educational materials and opportunities to reach out to others about early detection became critically important to me after my diagnosis in 2007. The importance of that message continues to be important to me today.”
Mike is the Practice Development and Physician Engagement Manager with Christus Trinity Mother Frances Health Systems.
Ronna is a proud mom to one daugher, Haley. Lifelong “Tyler-ite”, currently works as the Breast Nurse Navigator at Christus Trinity Mother Francis Ross Breast Center. Ronna is a Certified Breast Care Nurse through the Oncology Nursing Society and Certified Breast Nurse Navigator through the National Consortium of Brest Centers. Ronna enjoys following her daughter as a “Cheer Mom; ” as well as volunteering for several different events and committees in Tyler, including Race for the Cure and Tim Tebow’s foundation for “A Night to Shine.”. She is also very active with the ministry of Sky Ranch Christian Camps.
“I became a part of the Komen organization because I hope to be able to serve and educate all women about breast cancer; and just as importantly to be able to empower women to take control of their own health and prevent its development through active personalized screening and early detection.
Karla is married to Joe Hutchinson, they have 2 daughters age 22. She is a proud mother and grandmother to her fur-baby, Ruby May. She ha worked for an East Texas company for 35 years. Karla gets the most joy out of traveling, encouraging women going through breast cancer and doing anything outside.
“I became very active with the Komen East Central Texas Affiliate when a group of breast cancer survivors started a support system called Breast Friends Forever. To date, the group has touched over 50 breast cancer survivors with phone calls, cards, lunches and prayers.”
Willie Jean is a John Tyler High and Tyler Junior College graduate. She is married to Willie Wheeler and has 2 children and 3 grandchildren. A nurse for 36 years, she has held the positions of Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Nurse Training Coordinator and Unit Nurse Manager. Willie Jean is currently Charge Nurse at Clairmont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Tyler. Willie Jean devotes her energy and interests in support of an array of positive community organizations. She is a member of NAACP Tyler Local 6232 and Co-Chair of Women in NAACP Local 6232, The Divine Divas Motorcycle Club and the Rose City Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, for which she is Secretary.
Gina was born and raised in the DFW area. She moved to the Tyler area 9 years ago and is married with 2 grown children, 3 grandchildren and “and awesome stepson”. Gina has been catering for almost 20 years and is currently the owner of The Azalea Food Company.
“I am a breast cancer survivor and lost my mother to breast cancer almost 30 years ago. I am excited to be involved with Komen East Central Texas and hope to make a difference! “
A native East Texas, Bridgette returned to the area in 2015 to start a farm with her family and is currently a Realtor with Greater Tyler Realty. Bridgette holds a Bachelors of Science from Stephen F. Austin. Through previous roles as CEO of TRG Resources and various corporate HR positions, Bridgette is a successful strategic business leader driving growth through organizational transformation and program creation globally.Like so many others, Bridgette has been impacted as family and friends have battled cancer. In their honor, she is committed to driving awareness to find a cure.
Misty Watson – Board Member
Misty is a 17 year breast cancer survivor as well as an Oncology Nurse for 17 years. Oncology is the only area of nursing that Misty has ever been in. Misty has been a Race Team captain for 16 years. “I love working in Oncology and with cancer patients. If I can make their cancer journey just a little better then I have done my job and fulfilled my calling. I believe God put me in Oncology and led me to be the best nurse I can possibly be.
